In 2006 he landed the role of the British secret agent 007 James Bond in the film Casino Royale. Initially, many thought that the producers had made the wrong choice. Many of the diehard bond fans thought that the blond haired, blue eyed Craig was not the right person to fit the tall dark handsome image of James Bond that had gone before in previous films. Although he was mistrusted in some quarters, he was publicly supported by four of the five previous Bond actors including Pierce Brosnan, Timothy Dalton, Sean Connery and Roger Moore.
In his first Bond outing, Casino Royale which premiered in November 2006 the film went on to become the highest grossing Bond film up to that point taking a total of $594,239,066 worldwide. The second film, Quantum of Solace has grossed a slightly lower total of $586,090,727 worldwide. Meanwhile the third and latest 007 film Daniel Craig has starred in, Skyfall has already grossed over $1.1 billion and is still going strong.
Daniel Craig is not just the actor in James Bond. He has also been very busy in the last few years and done several other films including Cowboys and Aliens 2011, Dream House and most recently and famously the English language version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011).
He also made the famous appearance on the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics. It featured him pulling up to Buckingham Palace in a taxi then meeting and talking to the real-life Queen Elizabeth II before escorting her to a helicopter and then the pair of them parachuting into the Olympic arena. BTW that wasn’t the real Queen in the parachute.
